How to do a waste audit for your business – step-by-step guide

A waste audit can reveal a lot about how your business is operating today. It can provide insights and inspiration on how you might reduce waste and increase the circularity (reuse) of items in your waste stream. Below you’ll find a step-by-step photo guide so you can see how the process works.

Step-by-step guide

1. Print out the waste audit recording sheets and make sure you have everything you need from the audit materials checklist.

2. Collect your waste (separate food waste and solid waste).

3. Weigh each item.

4. Record your results on the recording sheet.

5. Tell us how it went and send us a photo of your results. Alternatively, if you would like to chat through your feedback or discuss anything relating to the audit please get in touch with the marketing@streat.com.au.

6. Make a plan to reduce your waste, and find the best way to divert your waste from landfill.

7. Repeat seasonally or annually to see how you’re tracking and continue making adjustments to your waste plan.
